Group Opportunites at Salem - Get Involved!

Sunday School

Salem provides Christian education for 2 year olds through high school in fun and meaningful ways. The children learn bible stories through hands on experiences. Salem is currently using a formal rotational Sunday School. The children learn one bible story for 3-5 week sessions. They learn God's love through art, music, science, games, computers, movies, cooking, drama, and puppets.

Sunday school meets Sunday mornings at 9:15 - 10:15 on the 3rd Floor Sunday school room for a gathering, and then rotates to various Sunday school rooms throughout the church.

Hand Bells

Salem Lutheran Church is extremely blessed to have a 5 octave set of hand bells and a 2 octave set of Choir chimes. At the present time, we have two hand bell choirs and a Youth hand chime choir. The corporate joy, the private ecstasy, the muscular activity, the spiritual service, and the social interaction which is hand bell choir constitute incomparable holistic therapy.

All groups practice weekly and present selections at Worship services once a month from September through May.

Youth Hand Chime Choir
The Youth Hand chime Choir is open to youth from 3rd grade through 8th grade. It meets on Wednesdays at 6:00 pm in the 3rd floor choir room. All youth are welcome. Hand chimes are fun to play, and there is an "instant" success achieved by youth playing them. Chimes teach responsibility, discipline, and working as a team.

Salem Bell Ringers (Bells of Praise)
They are an advanced hand bell choir with members who have rung together for several years. They meet every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in the church balcony. Their dedication and love of hand bell ringing makes them a top-rated group.

Jubellation Hand Bell Choir
There are openings for additional ringers in this group. Anyone with an interest in music is welcome. It is not imperative that you read music. Rhythm is the single most important musical factor in a hand bell choir. Jubellation choir meet every Tuesday at 6:00 pm in the church balcony.
